SkullCandy Crusher

Pros

  • Battery life lasts up to 40 hours on a full charge, 3 hours after a quick charge
  • Deep clear bass that is also adjustable
  • Very comfortable ear pads

Cons

  • Not true noise-canceling headphones. They still block outside noise somewhat but can be improved.

Summary:

The SkullCandy Crusher headphones are the real set of premium headphones and are arguably the best SkullCandy headphones you can buy. The battery life is definitely impressive, we didn't wear it out but we got it low enough that we're confident it lives up to its claim of 40 hours. You get supreme sound quality ranging through all frequencies. The bass was especially deep and clear, which we were thrilled about. They're wireless and have a quick charge option, two of our big must-haves when on the go. The ear cushions are comfortable and work well to block out most outside noise.

SkullCandy Hesh 2

Pros

  • Very rich audio quality on music with vocals
  • Dynamic, go corded or wireless
  • Up to 15 hours of battery life

Cons

  • Earpads tend to feel hot after a few hours

Summary:

These Skullcandy Hesh headphones are dynamic, which we loved when we saw how many different things they can actually do. They use Bluetooth wireless technology, so you don’t need to worry about cords getting tangled. However, if you’re low on battery and the LED light blinks red, you can still use the aux cord that comes with it. Bonus: the aux cord also has a built-in mic, and the calls come through clearer than on most wireless on-ear headphones we’ve tried before. We also loved all the controls built into the headphones.

SkullCandy Hesh 3

Pros

  • Improved battery life, a 10-minute charge gives 4 hours of power
  • Collapsing design is convenient for traveling
  • Improved wireless connection

Cons

  • We miss the old SkullCandy design with the colorful logo!

Summary:

The SkullCandy Hesh 3 on-ear headphones follow the manifest of the previous models in the Hesh series, with some more improvements. They perform so much better at blocking out ambient noise, and the earpads are pretty comfortable too. The rapid charge feature now gives you even more battery life, increasing the life from 3 hours to 4, with only 10 minutes of charge time. If you have time to fully charge it, you get 22 hours of battery life. In actual fact, it does last longer than that. One of the biggest advances was how much stronger the wireless connection seems.

SkullCandy Uproar

Pros

  • Onboard controls are intuitive and easily accessed
  • Lightweight and feels cooler for longer
  • Very clear sound quality through any frequency

Cons

  • Don’t get as loud as other headphones

Summary:

We’re not giving into flattery when we say that the Uproar headphones are one of the best Skullcandy pairs out there. First, the design is extremely popular, similar to the SkullCandy Grind, and well loved.

Yes, it’s more toned down and designed with an ultra-futuristic hint to it, but it keeps the SkullCandy logo we’re grown to love and recognize. The onboard controls are some of the most convenient we’ve found, and it’s a nice bonus to have the mic built into the ear cups themselves. While the ear pillows are made of a lux feeling synthetic leather, they stay a lot cooler than other sets.

SkullCandy Sesh

Pros

  • We loved the convenience of the in-ear design
  • More durable than others, and water-resistant
  • Gets loud while maintaining sound quality

Cons

  • Somewhat less comfortable when you press the earbud button for controls

Summary:

These Skullcandy Sesh headphones are durable and will hold up against dirt, dust, and they’re even water-resistant. This is great if you want to take them to sweat it out at the gym or on a run. We were happy to see a tougher offering from SkullCandy. Grind it out or just relax with up to 10 hours of total battery life. They have a simple design and controls to match, which works out perfectly for busy music fans. From a single button you can access all the controls you’ll possibly need.

SkullCandy Ink’d

Pros

  • Budget-friendly and high quality
  • Delivers clear sound
  • Improved mic clarity was a big improvement

Cons

  • Not as great for audiobooks

Summary:

These are some of the best headphones if you’re looking for a pair of classic, corded in-ear headphones. The sound quality is impressive, and it really rivals even more high tech wireless sets. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they have a sleek design and rich standout coloring. The colors are really unique too, compared to other offerings on the market. Another point that impressed us was the mic: where a lot of corded earbuds tend to skimp on mic quality, these definitely don’t!

SkullCandy Push

Pros

  • Really clear bass and mid-tones
  • Very durable and water-resistant
  • Easy wireless connection, takes only seconds to pair

Cons

  • High tones seem quieter

Summary:

These are the next go-to if you love headphones from SkullCandy. Venue quality sound and a standout design make this pair tough to beat! This set is water-resistant and durable. They’re great for exercising, especially because they include 4 different sets of earbuds in different sizes, so you won’t worry about them falling out or getting uncomfortable. If you’re an audiophile, the mid-tones and bass quality is going to impress you.

Benefits of SkullCandy Headphones

Price

While SkullCandy headphones do come in a wide range of price points, their headphones are more affordable than most brands by and large. Even their most expensive pairs are more affordable compared to other brands. One reason they have such a huge fan base is that they deliver high-quality headphones at budget-friendly prices.

Visual Appeal

Sound quality aside, one of the huge defining aspects of SkullCandy headphones is their visual appeal. The designs are all undoubtedly modern and look far different from the headphones or yesteryear. They really made a name for their brand with their bright, bold colors and design, but now they also offer more toned down classic colored options. Of course, the pinnacle of any SkullCandy design is the logo: it may change color or size depending on the set of headphones, but it’s always present and adding to the appeal.

Dynamic Design and Technology

SkullCandy is a brand that keeps innovating, which is another reason they’ve built such a dedicated fan base. The brand founders actually started developing the initial designs to overcome issues of receiving calls on headphone sets while also listening to music. As you might guess, that problem-solving attitude has only continued to grow. They have controls that are built on board for easy access to all the different functions you could possibly need.

Different Types

On-ear Headphones

These headphones have (typically) foam earpads that sit comfortably on top of your ears. The design adds to the noise isolation because the earcups serve as a thick physical barrier. They also tend to be more lightweight than other types of headphones.

Over-ear Headphones

Over-ear headphones fit all the way over your ears and fit more snugly than other types. The result is improved noise isolation. Many people choose these when they’re looking for a more immersive listening experience. They’re ideal for listening in more crowded public places because they also reduce noise leakage that can bother others around you.

Earbuds

Earbuds are the most compact style of headphones and fit directly into your ear. They’re smaller, easier to carry around, and are all around very convenient (especially if you’re traveling or commuting). Often, earbuds come with a few different ‘bud’ size sets, so that they can fit comfortably in your ear canal.

Conclusion

SkullCandy is a brand that you really can’t overlook if you love music and an impressive audio experience. From the very start, they’ve been a company that innovates and improves upon audio technology. Even better, no matter how much advancement they achieve, they continue to provide affordable headphones that deliver reliably high-quality sound. If you’re looking for a pair that lasts and delivers top tier value, SkullCandy is where it’s at. Pick any one of these models from our list and you’ll be on the right track.
